Hello! I’m Camila de Castro, a professional Portuguese and English interpreter and translator, born and raised in Brazil with 17 years of America dreaming, and currently Southern California living. A global-trotting languages aficionada, culture-savoring literature lover, and photography enthusiast. I have 12 years of experience as a language professional with a background in English and Linguists and an ongoing journey into the Localization world.
During my linguist journey as a contractor interpreter, I have assisted dozens of clients with their communication needs in an array of arenas, from medical departments at all major hospitals of the Boston area, to the court system, public education and government departments.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Linguistics and Literature from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and have been successfully trained as a medical, community and legal interpreter and translator by Boston University and University of Massachusetts.
During my linguist journey as a contractor interpreter, I have assisted dozens of clients with their communication needs in an array of arenas, from medical departments at all major hospitals of the Boston area, to the court system, public education and government departments. As a conference interpreter, I had the privilege of facilitating knowledge and collaboration for multiple groups and reputable institutions in the US and Brazil, including government officials and academics
I started my transition into localization after earning a certificate in Localization from the University of Washington in 2021 and I’m currently solidifying my path into this industry by earning my Masters in Translation and Localization Project Management at the renowned Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.
My calling is what moves me, it is what inspires me to reach to both ends of these two worlds: the intricacies of Brazilian culture and the powerful, influential force of American society. I love to live between both sides of this unique spectrum and have adjusted the sails heading straight into the thrilling, groundbreaking Localization universe, where I will continue to thrive connecting the world.
